Jesus does not shun the leper and neither should we. Jesus is moved with compassion to extend a welcoming hand to lepers and to offer healing and reconciliation to them, and so should we.
Demons are not relics of the past. They are the devils that harass all of us -- trying steer us in the wrong direction, tempting us and fooling us into thinking their way is better, easier, sweeter than God’s way. The only power that makes demons go away and flee is the power of Christ’s love – so we have to stay as close to Christ as we can get.
For Catholics, conversion is not a one-time event -- it is an extended process, a pilgrimage, a lifelong sacred journey. At any moment and at every moment, Christ is calling us to a change of heart and a conversion of attitude and behavior.
Is God still calling us today? Our faith tells us yes, there are times when the Lord speaks to us directly and personally. When the Lord calls us in his own quiet way to do something for him, he wants us to respond with a listening heart and if we do, things will never be the same.
