Christ has some pointed advice for those who wait for God.  It is simple: “Stay awake!” “Remain alert!”  “Be prepared!”  

Today, though we live in a nation without royalty, we acclaim Christ as our King. Christ rules by a love that is compassionate and forgiving. Christ’s decrees are the beatitudes and the commandments to love God and our neighbor. 

The readings this weekend speak of that final day when time and history will cease, and the Lord Jesus will return in glory for the last judgment and the general resurrection. 

During the entire month of November, Catholics traditionally pray for the souls of their faithful departed.
