The readings today offer us a spiritual crosswalk. Jesus teaches us that in order to be his disciples, we must lose our lives in sacrificial love, take up our cross, and follow him. Our life in Christ, our journey home to God is all about a crosswalk, paying attention to the signals that are given to us in the word of God and the teaching of the Church, and being patient and wise enough to stop and wait for God’s grace to give us the signal to move forward when that is what we need to do. If we step into the crosswalk and pay attention to the signals God gives us, we’ll follow in the footsteps of Jesus… and he will surely guide us safely to new and everlasting life.
