Today, though we live in a nation without royalty, we acclaim Christ as our King. Christ rules by a love that is compassionate and forgiving. Christ’s decrees are the beatitudes and the commandments to love God and our neighbor. The Kingdom of Christ is a kingdom established by the love of real people, a love that is faithful; a love that perseveres and stands by the truth; a love that endures suffering in hope; a love that is ever merciful; a love that is everlasting. Friends, by the water of baptism, we belong to this Kingdom and as such we live according to the rule of the Lord. We believe when others don’t. We strive for justice when nobody else cares. We hope when all seems lost. We love without reserve even when it is costly. Long live Christ the King!
