November 19th, 2023 - Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Use it or lose it! This is a great caption for today’s gospel and an important less in Christian life.

My friends, as human beings we all receive the gift of life and as baptized members of the Body of Christ, we receive the call to holiness. Each of us is entrusted with a specific vocation in life and with a set of responsibilities to carry out. There is no life calling that is devoid of obligations, and usually they all somehow include service to others. The Christian life boils down to this: when we use the time, faith, and other gifts we have been given to extend the victory of Christ’s love, we draw interest on what God gave us to begin with and we gain a heavenly reward. But when we waste our time fretting about our challenges, pouting about our setbacks, and shelving our gifts out of laziness and fear, we risk losing the heavenly fortune that has been entrusted to us. Use it or lose it!
