In today’s gospel, Jesus gets even more pointed about what it takes to be a full-fledged disciple of his, and to walk the Way of the Cross with him on the Road Less Travelled. At first hearing, Jesus’ to-do list for disciples seems like Mission Impossible:
Here is what the great Catholic author GK Chesterton had to say about the Way of the Cross: “The Christian life has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult, and left untried.” Well, piggy-backing on Chesterton’s point, staying on the Road Less Travelled, the Way of the Cross may be hard, but why don’t we receive Christ in Holy Communion and give it another try this week?
