August 13th, 2023 - Nineteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

My friends, where can we find God every day?  Surely in the beauty and leisure of a summer day, in the selfless love of a fellow Christian, in the face of a newborn child or the smile of an aging person, in some encouraging news we may hear. But God can also be found in less obvious places, like the hectic pace of our lives, where God calls us to slow down and pay attention to his voice. God can be found in all the heavy burdens and mountain of worries that we carry, encouraging us to take heart and trust in his love. God can be found in all the crises and setbacks of our lives, consoling us and giving us the strength to be patient and persevere. God is in the blowups we have with our loved ones and friends, urging us to apologize, forgive, and begin again. God is always in the storms of our lives, whispering his kindness and mercy… we just have to listen with the ears of faith.
