"In Service to One, In Service to All"
Knights of Columbus Motto
The Lynnfield Knights of Columbus, founded on the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity, has been an integral part of the Lynnfield community for nearly 70 years. Council 3745 was organized in 1953 to support Our Lady of the Assumption Church and School, Saint Maria Goretti Church, and the greater Lynnfield community. During its first year, the Council met in a house on Grove Street. In 1963, the Council acquired the large white house that had served as the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish rectory. The house was moved from Grove Street to the location it now stands -- in the rear of Post Office Square Shopping Center, Lynnfield.
The Lynnfield KOC Council received two special state and national awards – The State Service to Youth Award and The National Columbia Award. These recognized the Council for its many diverse activities supporting youth, family, community, Church, and faith.
These activities include the annual Substance Abuse Poster Contest and Religious Freedom Essay Contest, annual Basketball Free Throw competition at the Saugus YMCA, annual Altar Server Recognition Dinner, the ongoing Families in Crisis Program that provides food to needy families of Ave Maria Parish, participating in Memorial Day weekend Programs as Honor Guard at Puritan Lawn Cemetery and placing over 200 American flags on veterans' graves in Willow Cemetery, the “Change 4 Baby” Bottle Campaign offering donations to Catholic Charities in Lynn, holding the annual Tootsie Roll Fund Drive over Columbus Day weekend to help needy children, holding monthly family breakfasts, and offering monthly dinners to men of the parish.
The Knights of Columbus is an international brotherhood of more than 2 million Catholic men who are called to be witnesses to Christ in their families, jobs, and service to society.
