"In Service to One, In Service to All"
Knights of Columbus Motto
The Lynnfield Knights of Columbus, founded on the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity, has been an integral part of the Lynnfield community for more than 70 years. Council 3745 was organized in 1953 to support Our Lady of the Assumption Church and School, Saint Maria Goretti Church, and the greater Lynnfield community. During its first years, the Council met in a house on Grove Street. In 1963, the Council acquired the large, white house that had served as the rectory for Our Lady of the Assumption Church. The house was moved from Grove Street to a location in the rear of Lynnfield's Post Office Square Shopping Center. In April 2024, that building was sold due to costly and time-consuming maintenance and management. The KOC continues to hold meetings in the OLA Church Hall on the second Tuesday of each month, starting at 6:30pm.
Over the years, the Lynnfield KOC Council received special state and national awards that recognized the Council for its many diverse activities supporting youth, family, community, veterans, Church, and faith. These activities included the Substance Abuse Poster Contests, Religious Freedom Essay Contests, Basketball Free Throw competitions, and Altar Server Recognition Dinners. Ongoing activities include sponsoring the Families in Crisis Program that provides food to needy families of Ave Maria Parish, placing over 200 American flags on veterans' graves in Willow Cemetery, and holding the annual Tootsie Roll Fund Drive over Columbus Day weekend to help needy children.
The Knights of Columbus is an international brotherhood of more than 2 million Catholic men who are called to be witnesses to Christ in their families, jobs, and service to society.
